The Ottawa Police Service said Saturday evening that it was requesting public assistance in locating a 28-year-old woman who had gone missing from the Barrhaven neighbourhood.

Maryan Abdi was last seen on Letourneau Street at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, police said in a social-media post. “Her family is concerned for her safety. She has difficulty communicating.”

Abdi was described as standing five feet seven inches tall and having a medium build and black, shoulder-length hair in corn rows. She is missing two front teeth.

She was last seen wearing a dark red winter jacket, grey sweat pants, white toque and green winter boots.

She might have been travelling on OC Transpo and could possibly visit the Rideau Centre shopping mall, police added.

Anyone spotting Abdi was asked to call 911.
